Al Qasim University in Al Qasim province of Saudi Arabia has organized heritage and cultural programs with the participation of students from different countries. Thursday , january 31 was the last day of the 3 day program . Fakhrul Islam , Press Wing Secretary of Saudi Arabia Bangladesh Embassy , attended the fair to enourage the students .
In this festival of Al Qasim University , foreign students from 20 countries showcased the their respective countries . Apart from Bangladesh , Muslim students from various arab and African countries including India , Pakistan , Indonesia , Thailand , Philippines participated in this festival .
Bangladeshi students studying in the university make their stalls very attractive with various local foods, handicrafts, rural traditions. At the stall, Bengali students introduced the Bengali language by writing the names of students from different countries in Bengali. As an added attraction to the festival, guests are taken around the festival premises in a rickshaw. Palkin is also kept as a local tradition in the stalls of Bangladesh. Students and guests coming to the festival appreciated the pita and sweets of Bangladesh.
Bangladeshi students performed the national anthem in concert at Al Qasim University’s cultural and heritage event. The festival organizers praised the Bangladeshi stalls. University teachers also appreciated the good results and discipline of Bangladeshi students in their studies. Regarding the participation of Bangladeshi students in this festival, the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia, Golam Masih, said that through all these activities, the image of Bangladesh in Saudi Arabia will increase as well as friendly relations will increase.
He said that the embassy is there for any need of Bangladeshi students studying in Saudi Arabia.In this university, 30 Bangladeshi students are studying at undergraduate and postgraduate level with full scholarships. There is a modern library and good quality canteen for the students. Besides, there are very good quality hostels. Students get monthly stipend for their studies. About 80 thousand students are currently studying in this university. Among which there are more than three thousand students from about 70 countries. Apart from Bangladeshi students, there are 6 Bangladeshi teachers working in the university.
